About the role

Ready to power up your career and make a real impact? 🚀 Join us and contribute to projects that move millions of people daily!

Embark on your journey with hands-on experience and a solid development plan. Through technical training, apprenticeship days, and mentorship, you'll hone your skills on meaningful projects. You'll collaborate with apprentices across the business, showcase your achievements, and deliver an Apprentice Excellence Project, proposing innovative changes to our processes. You'll be aligned to a role from day one, giving you clear focus and a permanent position upon successful completion of your apprenticeship.

As an Apprentice, you'll work towards a Level 4 Rail Engineering Advanced Technician standard, developing defined knowledge, skills, and behaviours. Our delivery model is hybrid block release, with an estimated apprenticeship duration of 48 months, in partnership with NTAR.

This is your launchpad into an exciting career in Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure Construction. Based on regional project sites and supporting offices, you'll work on live signalling projects, gaining practical experience and building evidence for your IRSE Installation licence. Your development is fully supported with cross-functional placements for an end-to-end understanding of railway engineering and project delivery. This program offers an accelerated, hands-on pathway to mastering critical technical expertise, securing your professional licence, and building a long-term career in safety-critical railway infrastructure. A structured training plan will help you develop the skills you need.

You'll make a difference by:

  • Driving Project Delivery: 🚉 Contribute directly to regional rail infrastructure projects, delivering safe, efficient, and reliable signalling installations that keep networks moving.
  • Building a Safer Railway: 👷 Gather vital workplace evidence and hands-on experience to achieve your IRSE licence, paving the way for a career dedicated to safety-critical railway engineering.
  • Connecting the Business: 🤝 Bring fresh perspectives through cross-functional placements, bridging the gap between site operations and supporting departments for end-to-end project success.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Grade 4/C in GCSE English Language and Maths. 📚
  • Logical thinking, a willingness to self-learn and research, and a creative approach to problem-solving. 🧠💡
  • Ability to work independently, safely, and responsibly; taking ownership of challenges and ideas, and looking to drive and lead change. 💪
  • Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

AND you must have achieved, or be on track to achieve, ONE of the following:

  • Level 3 Engineering Qualification.
  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering.
  • Relevant Engineering BTEC or equivalent technical qualification.
