What's the Mission?

Stationed at Devonport, the largest naval base in Western Europe, you’ll become a whiz in building services engineering. As part of the Mechanical Building Services Group, you'll get involved in designing, maintaining, and upgrading crucial systems like heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), cooling, plumbing, compressed air, fire protection, and eco-friendly energy solutions. 💡 You’ll tackle everything from design and technical analysis to maintenance and keeping operations smooth. Get ready to crunch numbers, nail technical docs, and deliver awesome projects. Plus, you’ll get a solid grip on engineering standards, laws, and what it takes to keep things safe and reliable in a super-regulated zone. ✅

Your Education Quest 🎓

You'll be studying for a BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering degree at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), fully accredited by CIBSE. This isn't your average classroom! It’s a day-release program where you'll explore construction tech, environmental science, design principles, sustainability, energy management, project planning, mechanical systems, and how buildings perform. 🌍 Alongside your studies, you’ll jump into placements at Devonport, applying your knowledge to real-deal projects. You’ll have dedicated mentors and support from seasoned engineers every step of the way. You’ll need to be on-site at Devonport at least three days a week and live within a reasonable commute. Your UWE Bristol lectures? One day a week during term time. 🗓️

Future You 🌟

By the time you wrap up this apprenticeship, you’ll be a certified Mechanical Building Services Engineer at Devonport, ready for a cool role. You'll also be on the fast track to becoming an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer – the gold standard in engineering, paving your way to senior roles. 🚀

What You'll Need to Bring 💯

• Qualifications: One of these:
• 3 A Levels, with a Grade C or above in Maths and a STEM subject.
• T Level Pass + Grade C in A-Level Mathematics.
• BTEC Extended Diploma at grade MMM (Merit, Merit, Merit) in a STEM subject.
• Equivalent qualifications might also be considered.

• Security Clearance: This role requires you to achieve and maintain Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), Security Check (SC), and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Programme Information (NNPPI) clearance. Please note, your birthplace, nationality, citizenship, or residency may affect eligibility due to national security legislation. This post is open to sole UK nationals only. 🇬🇧
