About the role

Imagine impacting the daily commutes of millions! 🚆 Embark on your engineering journey with us, blending real-world experience with structured development. Through hands-on training, dedicated development days, and expert mentorship, you'll hone your skills on meaningful projects. 🤝 Connect with fellow apprentices across the business, showcase your accomplishments, and deliver an Apprentice Excellence Project, proposing a game-changing improvement to a business process. 🚀

You'll be integrated into a specific role from day one, providing clear direction for your growth throughout the program and setting you up for a permanent position upon successful completion. 🎯

As an Apprentice, you'll work towards achieving a recognized apprenticeship standard, developing defined knowledge, skills, and behaviors with support from us and your training provider. This role aligns with the LEVEL 4, Rail Engineering Advanced Technician apprenticeship standard. 🛠️ The program utilizes a hybrid delivery model (block release) with an estimated duration of 48 months, delivered by NTAR. 🏫

This apprenticeship is your launchpad into an exciting career within Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure Construction. Based at regional project sites and supporting offices, you'll engage with live signalling projects, gaining practical experience and building essential evidence for your IRSE Installation licence. 🏗️ Your development is fully supported through a structured pathway, including cross-functional placements, giving you an end-to-end understanding of railway engineering and project delivery. This program offers an accelerated, hands-on route to mastering critical technical skills, securing your professional licence, and building a long-term career in safety-critical railway infrastructure. 🌟

A structured training and development plan will be in place to further enhance your required skills. 📈

You'll make a difference by:

  • Driving Project Delivery: Contribute directly to regional rail infrastructure projects, helping deliver safe, efficient, and reliable signalling installations that keep networks moving. 🚦
  • Building a Safer Railway: Gather vital workplace evidence and hands-on experience to achieve your IRSE licence, laying the groundwork for a long-term career in safety-critical railway engineering. ✅
  • Connecting the Business: Bring fresh perspectives through cross-functional placements, bridging the gap between site operations and the departments that ensure project success. 🌐

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Achieved at least a Grade 4/C in GCSE English Language and Maths. 📚
  • Logical thinking, a passion for self-learning and research, and a creative approach to problem-solving. 🤔
  • Ability to work independently, safely, and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas, and a drive to lead change. 💪
  • Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions. 🎉
  • Achieved, or on track to achieve, one of the following:
  • Level 3 Engineering Qualification 🎓
  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering 🏅
  • Relevant Engineering BTEC or equivalent technical qualification 💡
  • 3x A Levels at C or above in relevant subjects (e.g., Maths, Physics, Engineering). 🧬

As part of our recruitment process, all applicants will be required to provide proof of qualifications achieved or in progress prior to any job offer. This ensures candidates meet the necessary educational criteria. 💯
