You'll dive into creating algorithms that tackle real-world problems, automate tedious tasks, and forecast future trends. We're talking cutting-edge stuff like generative AI (think ChatGPT!), speech-to-text magic, and image processing superpowers. Plus, you'll get to design the very infrastructure these AI marvels run on.
This isn't just theory – you'll be hands-on from day one, learning from experienced architects and data engineers while working on live client projects and our own innovative products. 🤩
What you'll be doing:
- 💡 Building AI Models: Get hands-on with programming languages, primarily Python, to bring AI concepts to life.
- ✅ Testing & Implementing: Work with stakeholders and product managers to ensure our AI solutions are top-notch.
- 🔌 Creating APIs: Transform AI tools into accessible APIs, allowing other software to connect and use them.
- ✨ Supporting Product Development: Collaborate with product and UX teams to make AI tools user-friendly and drive adoption.
- 📊 Data Wrangling: Prepare, clean, and explore data to get it model-ready.
- 🤖 Prototyping Generative AI: Experiment with large language models, prompt engineering, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
- 🚀 Deployment & Monitoring: Help deploy AI models into production, keeping an eye on performance and data drift.
- 🛡️ Responsible AI: Champion fairness, protect data privacy, and adhere to security and governance standards.
- ✍️ Documenting Your Genius: Clearly document your work so everyone can understand and build upon it.
What you'll bring:
- 🐍 Programming Chops: Some experience in programming, ideally Python, from school, personal projects, or work.
- ➕ Maths Mindset: A solid grasp of maths, including statistics and basic algebra.
- 🔥 AI Enthusiasm: A genuine passion for AI and machine learning, with an example of something cool you've built, studied, or explored.
- 🗣️ Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical ideas to both techy and non-techy folks.
- 🤔 Problem-Solving Prowess: A logical and curious approach to tackling challenges.
- 📈 Eagerness to Learn: A strong willingness to absorb new knowledge and take feedback onboard.
Bonus points if you have:
- 📚 Familiarity with libraries like pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- 🔗 Experience calling large language models via API or building simple prompt-based tools.
- ☁️ Exposure to cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
- 🛠️ Experience with Git and Jupyter Notebooks.
- 🌍 Interest in how AI can make public services better!
Entry Requirements:
- Two A-levels in a relevant subject plus a B in A-level Maths.
- Two A-levels in a relevant subject plus 2 years of tech work experience.
- Level 4 or 5 apprenticeship in a similar technical field.
- International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in a relevant subject.
- 3+ years in a similar subject-related role.
- A degree in a numerate discipline (excluding Computer Science for funding reasons).
