About the role

Junior Building Services Surveyor 🛠️

Are you looking to kickstart your career in the dynamic world of building services? AES is on the hunt for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Junior Building Services Surveyors. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience and make a real impact!

What you'll be doing:

  • On-site Inspections: Shadow and support experienced surveyors as they check out mechanical and electrical systems like HVAC, heat recovery, building management systems (BMS), electrical distribution, plumbing, fire safety, lighting, and lifts. ⚡
  • Data Capture: Become a pro at using our digital platforms (think GoReport & Asseticom!) to record crucial asset information on site. This includes details on condition, how things are working, where they are, their attributes, snapping photos, and noting any maintenance needs. 📸
  • Compliance Checks: Learn to assess systems against vital standards, including health and safety, building regulations, statutory compliance, and sector-specific requirements like DfE, HTM, NHS, and lender TDD criteria. 📚
  • Identify Issues: Spot any systems that aren't up to scratch and need some fixing.
  • Asset Management: Help build and update our asset registers, cost profiles, and planned maintenance schedules, assisting clients with future repair and replacement planning. 📈
  • Reporting: Support the creation of survey reports, condition assessments, and technical notes, ensuring all data is accurate and presented clearly for our clients. 📝

We're looking for individuals who:

  • Are keen to learn and develop new skills.
  • Have a good eye for detail.
  • Are comfortable working on site.
  • Can communicate effectively.

This is a fantastic opportunity to get your foot in the door and grow with a leading company. If you're ready to dive in and build your future, we want to hear from you! 🙌

Key responsibilities

  • Support surveyors in conducting inspections and assessments of mechanical and electrical installations.
  • Collect and record detailed asset data on site using digital capture platforms.
  • Learn to assess systems against health and safety, building regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of asset registers, life-cycle cost profiles and PPM schedules.
  • Support the drafting of survey reports, condition assessments and technical commentary.
