At AWE, we're looking for motivated individuals to join our Project Controls Apprenticeship program. This is your chance to gain invaluable experience, learn from industry experts, and kickstart your professional journey. 💯

As a Project Controls Apprentice, you'll be the backbone of our project teams, helping them plan, monitor, and deliver critical work across our diverse business. You'll develop your skills in project controls while discovering where your passion lies. 💡

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting Major Projects: Get involved in everything from massive programmes and infrastructure upgrades to essential operational teams. You'll see how the big picture comes together! 🏗️
  • Learning the Ropes: Work alongside seasoned professionals and build strong relationships. You'll learn the ins and outs of how projects are planned, tracked, and kept on the right path. 🛤️
  • Keeping Projects on Track: In essence, project controls is all about ensuring projects hit their targets. This means assisting with:
  • Project plans and schedules 🗓️
  • Managing costs 💰
  • Identifying and mitigating risks ⚠️
  • Handling project changes 🔄
  • Providing clear and insightful reports 📊
  • Exploring Key Areas: Throughout your placements, you'll gain a deep understanding of:
  • How large projects are broken down into manageable pieces (think people, work, and budgets!). 🧩
  • Creating and verifying project schedules, including estimating task durations. ⏳
  • Establishing and maintaining baselines – the approved plans we measure against. ✅
  • Tracking project progress and performance. 📈
  • Generating regular reports to keep everyone informed. 📄
  • Forecasting project costs and anticipating future expenses. 💸
  • Understanding deviations between planned and actual performance. 🧐
  • Supporting project changes and analysing their impact on time, cost, and delivery. ⚖️
  • Leveraging data and statistics to inform project decisions. 🧮
  • Interpreting technical information, like engineering drawings, for planning purposes. 📐
  • Estimating the time, cost, and resources needed for project activities. 🎯

Your Journey:

You'll start with a comprehensive induction to familiarise yourself with AWE and our vital work. Then, you'll embark on your first project placement, putting your newly acquired skills into practice in a real-world setting. You'll have dedicated mentors and experienced colleagues to guide you, all while you work towards your degree-level apprenticeship. 🎓
