Who we're looking for:
- You've got a passion for coding and tech, with some prior experience from school, college, or personal projects. 💡
- You have a basic grasp of web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 🌐
- You're organised, can manage your time like a pro, and communicate clearly, both in writing and speaking. 🗣️✍️
- You're comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and pay close attention to detail. 📊
- You can work solo and as part of a team. 🤝
What you'll be doing:
- Providing first-line technical support for software issues. 🛠️
- Helping senior developers fix bugs and resolve support requests. 🐞
- Learning and applying debugging techniques across our internal systems. 🔍
- Getting hands-on with databases, running queries, and analysing data. 🗄️
- Supporting software testing and user acceptance testing. ✅
- Contributing to small development tasks and enhancements. 🏗️
- Documenting solutions and procedures. 📚
- Building skills in our development platforms, languages, and tools. 🔧
Important Eligibility:
- This apprenticeship is for those with less than six months of professional software development experience.
- Individuals with a degree or Master's in Computer Science or Software Engineering are not eligible for this specific apprenticeship.
- You'll need to commit to completing a Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship.
- The role requires a commute of 1 hour 15 minutes or less to our Birmingham office (Custard Factory, B9 4AA). Relocation is not an option for this position. 📍
- This role isn't suitable if you're currently studying A Levels or a college course finishing in summer 2027. 🗓️

Key responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical investigation and support for software issues raised by Business Analysts, key users, and business teams.
- Assist senior support developers in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving application defects and support requests.
- Learn and apply software debugging techniques across FreshTrade (internal ERP) applications, APIs, and supporting services.
- Gain practical experience working with databases, including running queries, analysing data issues, and validating fixes.
- Support software testing activities by reproducing issues, verifying fixes, and assisting with user acceptance testing.
