About the role

Apprentice Learning Support Assistant 🍎

We're looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Learning Support Assistant to join our amazing team at Steeton! If you're passionate about education and want to make a real difference in young people's lives, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. ✨

What You'll Be Doing:

As an Apprentice, you'll work closely with our teachers and support staff to create a safe, inclusive, and exciting learning environment. You'll be helping students, both individually and in small groups, to access lessons, build their independence, and develop awesome relationships. Think of it as being a superhero sidekick in the classroom! πŸ¦Έβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Your Mission:

  • Build cool connections: Create positive and respectful relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and participation.
  • Support learning: Help students with reading, writing, math, and other subjects, following guidance from teachers. You'll be there to help them understand, practice, and stay engaged. πŸ“šβœοΈβž•
  • Be a champion for all: Support students with diverse needs, including those learning English, and those who need a little extra help.
  • Help them shine: Assist with play, communication, physical development, and social interaction – both inside and outside the classroom. βš½πŸ—£οΈ
  • Observe and share: Keep an eye on how students are doing and share your observations with the teacher to help them plan the next steps.
  • Promote positivity: Model great behavior, help students manage their feelings, resolve conflicts, and stand up against unkindness or bullying. πŸ€—
  • Be part of the team: Assist with daily routines, mealtimes, and school trips. You'll also help with important tasks like headcounts and care plans when needed, always with proper training and support.

How You'll Grow:

This is a training post, so you'll be learning and developing your skills every day! You'll get:

  • Supervised guidance: Support that matches your experience and the needs of the students.
  • A dedicated mentor: Someone awesome to guide you along the way.
  • Regular feedback: To help you track your progress.
  • Dedicated training time: Paid hours specifically for your apprenticeship.

Remember, the teachers are in charge of planning and teaching, but you'll be a vital part of making learning awesome for everyone. You won't be left to lead whole classes or cover for teachers, but you'll gain incredible experience.

At Steeton, our motto is "Learning for Life" πŸŽ“. We're looking for someone who embodies our values of kindness, high expectations, and a passion for learning from their colleagues.
