About the Role: Machine Learning Apprentice
You'll be building the technical smarts, practical skills, and professional swagger needed to become a confident and capable engineer. 😎 As part of our Specialist Underwater Systems Engineering squad, you'll be instrumental in rapidly delivering innovative solutions. This means ensuring our Royal Navy and international clients have the critical capabilities they need to conquer today's fast-paced environment, keeping them and our nation safe and sound. 🇬🇧
What You'll Be Doing:
- Teaming up with Underwater Systems specialists and software developers to craft groundbreaking solutions. 💡
- Collaborating with partners across the global Thales network, academic institutions, and industry leaders. 🌍
- Getting involved in testing and validation activities to ensure everything's top-notch. ✅
- Assisting with engineering investigations and tackling complex problems. 🧠
- Potentially visiting customer sites, vessels, and installations for surveys, trials, and system deployment. 🚢
- Working alongside experienced engineers on live, impactful projects. ⚡

Your Apprenticeship Journey: Level 6 AI Engineer
You'll be working towards a Level 6 AI Engineer Apprenticeship with QA. This programme is your fast-track to designing, building, and deploying advanced AI systems, including generative AI and deep learning. You'll go from initial concept to real-world application, creating solutions that truly scale and make a difference. 📈
This is a 23-month programme delivered virtually, featuring:
- Live Workshops: 28 days of instructor-led sessions. 🧑🏫
- Interactive Learning: Engaging labs and self-paced modules. 💻
What You'll Master:
- AI System Development and Automation

- Deep Learning and Transformers

On completion, you'll have the chance to earn the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) certification, alongside your IfATE L6AIE Qualification! 🏅
Entry Requirements:
- A Levels: Three A Levels at Grade B or above, including Maths and at least one of Physics, Computer Science, Software, or ICT.
- Or: A Level 4/5 apprenticeship in a relevant field.
- GCSEs: Minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A-C), including English and Maths.
- Please Note: Due to funding rules, Computer Science graduates are not eligible for this programme.
