About the Role
This awesome apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, experience, and knowledge to become a highly specialised Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineer within our Services team.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Support systems requirements and design activities ๐
- Be part of project reviews ๐ค
- Dive into system testing and validation activities ๐งช
- Help with engineering investigations and problem-solving ๐ก
- Visit customer sites and platforms to support surveys, trials, and system deployment (when needed!) ๐
- Collaborate with experienced engineers on live projects ๐ค
What you'll learn:
- ILS Planning: Help build and update ILS plans that match project goals.
- Supportability Analysis: Assist with analyses like FMEA, LORA, and RAMT using cool tools and databases.
- Technical Documentation: Support the creation and maintenance of user manuals, maintenance plans, and more.
- Data Collection & Management: Gather and manage data on equipment performance and maintenance.
- Spare Parts & Supply Support: Help figure out what spares, tools, and test equipment are needed.
- Training Support: Assist in creating training materials. ๐
- Maintenance Strategy Support: Help develop and improve maintenance tasks and schedules.
- Working with Stakeholders: Learn to chat effectively with engineers, project managers, customers, and suppliers. ๐ฃ๏ธ
- Continuous Learning: Actively engage in all the training and development opportunities. ๐ฑ
The Degree Apprenticeship Programme
You'll be studying for a Level 6 Higher Level Apprenticeship, graduating with a BEng Mechatronic Engineering degree from Ulster University's Belfast campus. It's a 4-year fast-track programme!
- Year 1: 4 days a week at university, remote Thales engineering project work, and 1 day a week onsite for practical experience.
- Year 2 onwards: 1 day a week at university and 4 days working in engineering, putting your learning into practice.
To apply, you'll need:
- A Levels: 112 UCAS points (A Level BBC) including a Grade B in a STEM subject (Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, DT, Engineering, Electronics, Double Award Science/Applied Science).
- Or equivalent BTEC Extended Diploma: (DMM) including a merit in Engineering Principles and Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems. Other Level 3 qualifications accepted as per Ulster University's BEng Mechatronic Engineering entry requirements.
- GCSEs: A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4-9 (A-C) in English and Maths.
