About the Gig:
As a Digital Product Owner Apprentice, you'll become a pro at defining, prioritising, and delivering amazing products and improvements. You'll be part of our product and delivery squad, working on live projects. Think collaborating with engineers, designers, data wizards, and other specialists to turn user and business ideas into clear goals, well-organised tasks, and measurable results. 🌟
What you'll learn & do:
- Work with experienced Product Owners and teams on real projects.
- Shadow Product Owners to understand what users and stakeholders need, then turn that into clear product goals.
- Help figure out what problems users have and how to solve them.
- Support in organising tasks, spotting potential issues, and making requirements super clear.
- Help make sure our products are on point through demos, feedback, and making things better.
- Chat with users and stakeholders (interviews, surveys!) and summarise what you find out.
- Help draft problem statements and ideas for what makes a product successful.
- Create simple docs like user story notes and FAQs.
- Help with changes, like creating training guides and checking things off a list.
The Apprenticeship:
This is a 24-month programme for the Level 4 Digital Product Manager Apprenticeship. You'll learn through:
- Live virtual lectures 💻
- Online resources 📚
- Self-directed learning activities 🤔
It all wraps up with an End Point Assessment, then you roll into your permanent role at Thales UK.
Entry Requirements:
- 1 A Level in any subject or BTEC equivalent OR Level 3 Apprenticeship
- 5 GCSEs grade 9-4 (A-C) including English and Maths (or equivalent)

Key responsibilities
- Working with experienced product owners and teams on live initiatives to learn effective product practices
- Shadowing Product Owners to understand customer and stakeholder needs, translating them into clear product goals and requirements
- Contributing to product discovery, including defining user problems, assumptions and success metrics
- Supporting backlog refinement by collecting input, flagging risks, and proposing reworded requirements for clarity
- Supporting validation through demos, feedback loops and continuous improvement of product outcomes
