About the Role: Software Engineering Apprentice 💻
You'll build the technical know-how, practical skills, and professional smarts to become a seriously confident and capable software engineer. As part of our dynamic team, you'll help deliver slick software solutions, ensuring projects are a hit – on time and on budget.
Your Mission (Potential Tasks):
- Help shape system requirements and designs.
- Code awesome software solutions to solve real business problems.

- Collaborate with experienced engineers on live projects.
What You'll Master:
- Professional engineering behaviours and industry best practices.

- The entire Software Engineering lifecycle and key processes.
- Essential Software Engineering tools and methods.
- Requirement management, design techniques, and writing clean code.
- Testing, integration, and making sure everything works perfectly (IVVQ).
- Structured and methodical ways to tackle problems and investigate issues.
The Degree Apprenticeship Programme: 📚
You'll embark on a 3.5-year Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship with Exeter University, specialising in Software Engineering.
- Years 1-2: Explore a wide range of digital areas like data, cybersecurity, software development, networks, programming, and AI. 🤖
- Year 3: Dive deep into your Software Engineering specialism, mastering the principles and methods of professional practice. You'll also tackle a big Synoptic Project and complete your End Point Assessment.
- The Prize: On completion, you'll bag a BSc in Digital and Technology Solutions *and* the Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship.
How You'll Learn:
This programme is a mix of awesome learning styles:
- On-Campus: Around 22 days spread across the whole programme. 🏫
- Distance Learning: 1 day per week during term time.
- Online: Interactive workshops and classes.
- Self-Study: Guided learning to boost your knowledge.
You'll blend university study with real workplace experience, building both your academic smarts and professional engineering prowess.
Entry Requirements (Your Ticket In):
- A Levels: Three A Levels with a grade of B or above.
- BTEC: Extended Diploma (DDM).
- T Level: Merit.
- Level 4 Digital Apprenticeship: As defined by Skills England.
- GCSEs: Minimum of five GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.
- *Please note:* If you already have a degree in a related field (like Software Engineering or Computer Science), you won't be eligible for this apprenticeship.
