What You'll Be Doing:
- Year 1: Master the Foundations! 🏗️
- Dive into the core skills of aircraft building at the fantastic Belfast Met Castlereagh Campus.
- Gain essential knowledge in mechanical fitting and engineering operations.
- Achieve: NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations, Level 2 Academic Qualification, and Level 2 Essential Skills. Think of it as your essential toolkit for success! 🛠️
- Years 2 & 3: Your Skills Take Flight! ✈️
- Transition to the world-class Airbus Belfast site and get hands-on with real aircraft projects.
- Preparation & Setup: Meticulously clean, mask, and prepare surfaces for flawless finishes. Mix paints and prep spray equipment like a pro. 🖌️
- Application & Quality: Apply multiple paint coats with precision, monitor conditions, and inspect for perfect quality, all while following strict safety rules. 🧐
- Fitting Activities: Get involved in our wing box production areas, drilling and installing fasteners to build the critical structure of our aircraft. 🔩
Your Academic Journey Continues:
- Pursue a Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma (Aeronautical Engineering) and a Level 3 Academic Certificate through day release. 📚
Upon Completion:
- You'll graduate as a Skilled Fitter, a master in assembling metallic and composite components for the A220 aircraft.
- Receive your Modern Apprenticeship Certificate – your ticket to an amazing career! 🎉
What You Need to Apply:
- Qualifications: At least four GCSEs at Grade C or 4, including Maths, English Language, and Science or a Technology subject. Plus, one other GCSE at Grade C or 4. Essential Skills or Key Skills at the appropriate level are also considered.
