About the role

Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career in healthcare? 🚀 Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is on the hunt for motivated, caring, and truly compassionate individuals to join us as Apprentice Clinical Support Workers across our clinical areas.

This 15-month apprenticeship is your golden ticket to a fulfilling healthcare journey! ✨ You'll get to learn, grow, and make a genuine difference in the lives of patients and their families. As an Apprentice Clinical Support Worker, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering high-quality, compassionate care when people need it most.

This is a hands-on, patient-facing role where you'll be directly involved with patients every single day, gaining essential skills for a thriving career in healthcare. 🤝 You’ll be part of a super supportive team, developing practical clinical skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

While we encourage full-time applications, we're also open to part-time working with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Get ready to embrace a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays, alongside regular study days to help you nail that work-study balance. 🗓️

What Your Role Entails:

As an Apprentice Clinical Support Worker, you’ll learn how to provide patients with essential care and support. You’ll be assisting patients with daily living tasks like washing and dressing, supporting them with eating and drinking, helping them move safely, assisting with toileting needs, and most importantly, promoting their comfort, dignity, and independence. You'll be a source of reassurance, emotional support, and compassionate care. ❤️

Throughout the 15-month programme, you'll be embedded in a dedicated ward or clinical area, becoming an integral part of the team. You'll work alongside nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals, gaining experience in monitoring patients, including taking vital signs like blood pressure, weight, and temperature. 🌡️

Alongside your practical experience, you’ll attend study days, complete coursework, and undertake practical assessments. We’ve got your back with support every step of the way as you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver outstanding patient care and launch your NHS career. 🌟

Eligibility:

  • Minimum age – 18 for clinical roles.
  • Must have eligible residency status for a minimum of 3 years and the right to work in the UK. We do not sponsor visas for this apprenticeship.
  • Learners must be able to complete the apprenticeship within the allocated programme length (visa length must cover the full duration).

Why You Should Join Our Team:

Leeds Teaching Hospitals is committed to being the best place to work! 🏆 On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you’ll secure a permanent Clinical Support Worker role and achieve a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare Support. We champion wellbeing, inclusion, and work-life balance. We value diversity and are building an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and can thrive. Reasonable adjustments are available for disabled applicants.

You'll receive a competitive salary from day one, plus access to fantastic NHS benefits like retail discounts and a competitive pension scheme. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a supportive environment where your voice matters and your development is our priority. 💯

What You Will Bring to the Role:

Above all, we're looking for individuals who have a genuine passion for caring for others. Compassion, kindness, and respect are key, alongside the clinical skills you’ll develop. Bring your empathy, a desire to support patients, and the motivation to learn and grow. 🧠 No previous experience is needed – just a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and the confidence to ask questions. Reliability, patience, and respect will help you fit right in, and your communication skills will make a world of difference to patients. Most importantly, bring your curiosity and motivation to develop new skills at a pace that feels manageable and supported.
