🚀 Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer (BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing) - GE Aerospace 🚀

What you'll do:
- Work across different engineering departments to bring innovative aircraft propellers to life.
- Learn to translate engineering designs into reality, defining processes, materials, and tools.
- Ensure our products are delivered seamlessly, on time, and to the highest quality.
- Prioritise safety and compliance in all your tasks.
- Rotate through various departments (production, quality, design, materials, tool design, NDT) to gain a 360° view of manufacturing.
- In your final rotation, dive deep into core Manufacturing Engineering tasks:
- Crafting clear manufacturing instructions. 📝
- Generating machine code for CNC machines and measurement tools. 💻
- Applying problem-solving techniques (Six Sigma, Lean) to tackle manufacturing challenges. 🤔
- Developing production techniques from raw materials to finished goods, focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). ✅
- Proposing and developing new technologies to boost our processes. ✨
- Contributing to improvements in key metrics like throughput and yield. 📈
- Creating Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) for future processes. 🛡️
Your Journey:
- Program Length: 4 years, including your End Point Assessment.
- Qualification: You'll graduate with a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing from UWE, University of the West of England.
- Structure: A broad-based program designed to build well-rounded engineers with awesome interpersonal and teamwork skills. You'll be on-site at UWE 2 days per week (and 1 day per week in years 2-4), with dedicated time for your EPA and assignments when not at university.
What you'll bring:
- Essential:
- Minimum 112 UCAS points (e.g., 3 A-Levels at BBC or above, including Maths and another STEM subject like Physics/Electronics/Computing; or a BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering at DMM or above).
- Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent like Functional Skills Level 2).
- Desired:
- A keen interest in the aerospace industry and our business.
- A passion for personal development and community volunteering.

Key responsibilities
- Writing and iteratively improving clear and concise manufacturing work instructions that align with technical specifications.
- Generating machine code for CNC machining centres as well as metrology tools.
- Presenting data driven solutions to manufacturing engineering problems following structured Lean and problem-solving methodologies.
- Creating and developing production techniques from raw material to finished product placing Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost (SQDC) at the centre of all decisions.
- Proactively suggesting and developing new technology initiatives to fixtures, tooling, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes.
