Crake and Mallon is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Apprentice Funeral Service Operatives in the Teesside community. If you're ready to make a real difference and build a meaningful career, this is your chance! โจ
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting bereaved families during their time of need. ๐ค
- Learning the ins and outs of funeral operations alongside our experienced team. ๐ ๏ธ
- Assisting with the preparation and care of coffins. ๐๏ธ
- Safely and respectfully transferring the deceased from various locations. ๐ก๐ฅ
- Helping with Coroner's removals when needed. ๐
- Driving funeral vehicles and participating in bearing duties. ๐๐ฏ๏ธ
- Keeping our funeral vehicles clean, maintained, and ready for service. ๐งผ
- Welcoming and assisting families and visitors at the Chapel of Rest. ๐
- Supporting the funeral directing team with operational tasks. ๐
- Participating in our out-of-hours on-call rota for urgent needs. โฐ
What you'll need:
- A full, clean UK driving licence. ๐
- To be physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting and manual tasks. ๐ช
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (minimum 90 nights per year), plus occasional weekend and evening cover. ๐
- A standard DBS check may be required. ๐ก๏ธ

Note: Due to insurance requirements for driving company vehicles, candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting in the preparation, lining, and dressing of coffins
- Carrying out removals of the deceased from private homes, nursing homes, and hospitals
- Assisting with Coroners' removals when required
- Driving funeral vehicles, carrying out bearing duties, and transporting ministers
- Daily cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of funeral vehicles
