What's the Deal?

  • Years 1 & 2: You'll be smashing goals working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Machining. That means one day a week at college and a solid four days a week with us in our Cramlington manufacturing hub, getting invaluable practical experience. 📚🏭
  • The Rest of Your Apprenticeship: You'll be mastering the art of CNC machining, including:
  • Becoming a wizard with Rotary and CNC Sliding Head machines. 💡
  • Setting up, operating, and fine-tuning equipment like a pro.
  • Reading and editing CNC programs like they're going out of style.
  • Measuring and inspecting components, making adjustments to ensure they're *perfect*. ✅
  • Understanding the importance of safety (Risk Assessments & SOPs). 🚦
  • Getting to grips with all sorts of precision measuring tools. 📏
  • Exploring shaping techniques like boring, cutting, drilling, milling, grinding, and welding. 🔥
  • Gaining insight into how a real business operates, seeing how different departments work together. 🌐

Key responsibilities

  • Learn to set-up, operate and adjust CNC machine equipment settings.
  • Read and/or edit CNC programmes.
  • Measure and check components, making adjustments to ensure specifications are met.
  • Apply a variety of removal and shaping techniques such as boring, cutting, drilling, milling, grinding and welding.
  • Understand the importance of Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, and business operations.
