Here's what your day-to-day will look like:
π Study for your AAT qualification and put that knowledge to work on actual client tasks.
π» Train on top-tier accounting software like Xero, QuickBooks, and Iris.
π£οΈ Develop killer client communication skills β think meetings, calls, and emails!
π§Ύ Help prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
π° Assist with Self Assessment and VAT returns.
βοΈ Support bookkeeping for a variety of clients.
β° Help manage the payroll bureau, hitting those deadlines.
ποΈ Create a weekly work plan to stay organized and crush your tasks.
π¦ Handle general office duties.
This apprenticeship is perfect for anyone new to accountancy or bookkeeping β weβll teach you the essentials of being a modern accountant, from the fundamentals of bookkeeping to the vital skills needed to make it happen. π‘ Whether you're changing careers or have some past experience, this Level 2 is your starting point. No prior accountancy experience? No problem! π There are no formal entry requirements, but you'll need strong math, IT, and English skills, plus a serious hunger to learn. π§ Youβll master core accounting skills like double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing, business acumen, and personal development. πͺ
To complete the program, youβll need to successfully pass:
- Introduction to Bookkeeping (ITBK)
- Principles of Bookkeeping Control (POBC)
- Principles of Costing (PCTN)
- Business Environment (BESY)
Key responsibilities
- Study towards the AAT qualification and apply learning to client work.
- Train on leading accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks and Iris.
- Build client-facing skills, including meeting clients, handling calls, and corresponding by email.
- Assist with accounts preparation for various entities and prepare tax returns.
- Support bookkeeping across a range of clients and help plan and run the payroll bureau.
