This is your chance to dive into the exciting world of ICT and network infrastructure, supporting our staff and students while gaining invaluable experience and working towards your Level 4 Network Engineer qualification.

What you'll be doing:

  • Helping to set up, maintain, and fix our school's wired and wireless network – think switches, Wi-Fi access points, and all the cool tech that keeps us connected. 🌐
  • Keeping an eye on our network's performance, making sure it's running smoothly and securely, and fixing any glitches that pop up. 👀
  • Assisting with network configurations, including things like IP addresses, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
  • Diagnosing and solving hardware, software, and network problems using awesome diagnostic tools. 🛠️
  • Supporting the management of user accounts and ensuring everything in our Microsoft 365/Exchange environment is on point.
  • Installing, setting up, and testing computers, printers, and other ICT equipment. 💻
  • Contributing to network upgrades and changes, always following best practices for security and smooth transitions.
  • Keeping our technical documentation fresh and accurate – think network diagrams, equipment lists, and fault logs. 📝
  • Helping to maintain our network security by monitoring activity and reporting anything suspicious. 🛡️
  • Performing routine maintenance and testing on our ICT and network gear to prevent issues.
  • Liaising with suppliers and external support teams when needed. 🤝
  • Providing tech support to our staff and students, sharing your growing expertise to boost ICT in teaching and learning. 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest tech trends and helping us continuously improve our school's ICT setup. ✨

What you'll need:

  • An A-Level in ICT, or an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT, or a Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar field, or a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits).

Key responsibilities

  • Support the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the school's wired and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance, availability and security, identifying and resolving faults or escalating where appropriate.
  • Diagnose hardware, software and network faults using appropriate monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, equipment records, configurations, faults and solutions.
