IT Technician Apprentice π
Who we are: Greater Manchester Academies Trust (GMAT) is a dynamic educational network powering nursery, primary, and secondary schools in North Manchester, including Manchester Communication Academy (MCA) and Manchester Communication Primary Academy (MCPA). We also champion associate leadership and management for Collyhurst Nursery, a Local Authority maintained nursery and Childrenβs Centres.
Your role: As an IT Technician Apprentice, you'll be the go-to person for ensuring our computer systems run smoothly, empowering our users to crush their daily tasks. This means jumping on incoming requests, prioritizing like a pro, keeping detailed notes, and solving end-user issues with speed and efficiency. You'll be a key player in supporting, maintaining, and evolving GMAT's IT infrastructure, covering all desktop and laptop support.
What you'll be doing:
- Slaying those IT helpdesk tickets that come your way. π«
- Handling all communication channels to the helpdesk β think phones, emails, and our web portal. ππ§π»
- Keeping our support ticket info sharp and up-to-date, and making sure customers know exactly where we're at with their requests. βοΈ
- Providing essential helpdesk coverage between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm. β°
- Rolling up your sleeves for hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including software installs/upgrades, hardware setup, and system/application configuration. π οΈ
- Using diagnostic tools to become a troubleshooting ninja. π΅οΈ
- Building awesome relationships with everyone who uses the helpdesk. π₯°
- Attending relevant meetings to stay in the loop. π€
You'll be a great fit if you have:
- A knack for customer service and building rapport. π
- The ability to rock it under pressure and meet tight deadlines. β±οΈ
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems (10, 11) and productivity suites like Office 2016, 2024, Office 365, and Google Apps. π‘
- Any experience with AV equipment is a bonus! π€
Entry Requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grade 3+ (D or above).
- You must not currently hold a qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week.

Key responsibilities
- Resolve assigned IT helpdesk calls
