Your Role: This is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your career with a structured apprenticeship. You'll be an integral part of our school's front-of-house and administrative functions, working across various departments to develop a diverse skill set.
Key Responsibilities:
- Front-of-House Excellence: Be the friendly face of our school! 🤝 You'll provide reception cover, warmly welcoming parents, pupils, staff, and visitors. This includes managing our visitor sign-in system to ensure everyone's safety and security.
- Communication Hub: Master our phone lines, expertly answering and directing calls, and taking clear messages. 📞 You'll also handle general enquiries, ensuring everyone gets the information they need.
- Student Support: Assist with the smooth running of the school day by supporting late arrivals and pupil collections with sign-in/out procedures. 📝 In cases of minor illness or distress, you'll help care for pupils at reception under the guidance of experienced staff, following our first aid protocols. 🩹
- Office Operations: Dive into general clerical duties like photocopying, filing, sorting mail, and preparing straightforward correspondence. 📁
- Resource Management: Help keep our school supplied! You'll photocopy, print, laminate, and bind materials for staff and classes. ✂️ You’ll also assist in maintaining stocks of essential office and reception supplies, letting us know when it's time to reorder. 📦 You'll also support the preparation of materials for exciting assemblies, events, meetings, and displays. 🎉
- Rotational Administrative Experience: This is where you’ll really shine and explore different areas of school administration! You’ll complete planned placements in departments such as Admissions, Exams, Attendance, Curriculum, Website/Social Media, and Finance. You’ll diligently learn and apply school systems, including our MIS (SIMS), under the guidance of lead colleagues.
- Confidentiality & Safeguarding: You’ll understand and maintain the utmost confidentiality and safeguarding awareness, especially when handling sensitive pupil, family, or staff information. 🔒
- Learning & Development: We encourage you to be curious! Ask questions, actively seek feedback, and reflect on your learning in each placement. You'll build a portfolio showcasing your growing experience and evidence to support your apprenticeship journey. 💡
Apprenticeship & Professional Development:
- College Commitment: You'll attend all timetabled sessions at Wolverhampton College and diligently complete coursework, assignments, and portfolio evidence for the Business Administrator Level 3 standard. 📚
- Progress Reviews: Engage in regular progress reviews with your line manager, workplace mentor, and college assessor to track your development.
- Bridging Learning: You'll apply what you learn in college to your day-to-day work, and vice versa.
- Achieve Excellence: Work towards the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, aiming to successfully complete the full programme and end-point assessment. 🏆
