Ready to kickstart your career in the electrifying world of electrical maintenance? We're looking for motivated individuals to join our Facilities Management team as Apprentice Electricians. If you're eager to learn, hands-on, and want to develop your skills in a unique and dynamic environment, this is the role for you!
What you'll be doing:
- Assisting qualified electricians with all things electrical – from planned maintenance to emergency fixes. 💡
- Learning to understand and interpret electrical drawings and technical specs like a pro. 📈
- Getting involved in the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of a wide range of electrical systems and equipment across our site. 🔌
- Supporting the upkeep of lighting, power systems, control equipment, and other essential electrical infrastructure.
- Helping with electrical installations for buildings, animal enclosures, workshops, and visitor areas. 🐒
- Performing routine inspections and maintenance tasks under expert supervision.
- Developing your diagnostic skills to identify and fix electrical faults. 🔧
- Assisting with the installation of cabling, sockets, and other electrical components.
- Collaborating with our Facilities Management team and external contractors on exciting projects. 🤝
- Completing your formal apprenticeship, including college coursework, practical assessments, and your End-Point Assessment. 🎓
- Gaining a solid understanding of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and electrical safety standards. ✅
- Adhering strictly to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and health and safety protocols. ⚠️
- Keeping accurate records of all your work using our systems. 💻
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and your workspace to a high standard. ✨
- Responding to emergency situations and developing your ability to handle electrical issues effectively. 🚨
- Working safely in a zoo environment, understanding the specific needs of animal areas, public spaces, and critical operations. 🦁

Key responsibilities
- Assist qualified electricians with planned and reactive electrical maintenance, installations, testing, and repairs.
- Attend college and complete all required apprenticeship training, coursework, and assessments.
- Develop knowledge of electrical drawings, fault diagnosis, and IET Wiring Regulations.
- Adhere to all safe systems of work, risk assessments, and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of work and ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are safe and clean.
