About the role
Job Title: Research Administrator & Delivery Assistant 🚀
About the Role:
Looking for a dynamic start to your career? We're on the hunt for enthusiastic individuals with a genuine interest in clinical research! No prior experience? No problem! 🌟 We're keen to see your passion and basic understanding of what clinical research is all about. This role is mainly office-based, but your training will include hands-on experience in research delivery, like prepping and managing blood samples 🩸, and observing participant visits later on. You'll be working closely with a super collaborative multidisciplinary team, making it a prime opportunity for someone who's proactive and loves solving problems. 🤝
What You'll Do (with full training!):
- Be the first point of contact for basic queries – think answering the door, managing emails, and taking deliveries. 👋
- Keep our essential research supplies stocked up (blood tubes, cryovials, gloves, etc.). 📦
- Handle general office tasks like filing, photocopying important research documents (Patient Information Leaflets, Consent Forms, etc.). 📄
- Dive into basic data entry, update databases, and help keep our electronic and paper records shipshape. You might work with Castor and REDCap! 💻
- Provide awesome admin support to the ORFAN Project Manager, assisting with reports, presentations, managing trial files, uploading consent forms to Electronic Patient Records (EPR), and maintaining our secure participant database. 📊
- Help coordinate and book research participant appointments and scans, and record research visits using the AMIIC appointment booking system. 🗓️
- Manage taxi bookings and expense claims for participants when needed. 🚕
- Connect with various University departments and Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) to coordinate research activities for participants. 📞
- Jump in on Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activities for the ORFAN project and the wider AMIIC research portfolio. 🗣️
- Assist with managing frozen blood samples for secure storage, following Human Tissue Act (HTA) guidelines. This involves health and safety training, including dry ice handling. 🥶 You'll also help select samples for analysis or shipping.
- Get hands-on with prepping blood samples for freezing (using centrifuges and pipetting) as an introduction to basic lab skills – perfect if you're curious about the science side! 🔬
- Important: You'll be trained on and must adhere to all local policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) from AMIIC, Cardiovascular Medicine, wider Oxford University, and OUH where applicable.
- Honarary Contract: We'll apply for an honorary contract with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on your behalf, which is essential for duties involving patient records and data.
- Confidentiality is Key: You must always uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and be compliant with all research data management and GDPR regulations. 🔒
- Be ready for other tasks within your capabilities as part of your comprehensive training!
What We're Looking For:
- A genuine, keen interest in clinical research. ✨
- A basic understanding of what working in this field involves.
- A proactive and problem-solving mindset. 💡
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills. 🤝
- A commitment to upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance. 👍
- Requirement: Willingness to undertake Hepatitis B vaccination as per local policy for human sample management. 💉
Bonus: We'll be applying for an honorary contract with the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on your behalf.
