About the role

Crane & Industrial Door Maintenance Technician 🛠️

Are you ready to dive into the world of heavy machinery and ensure things run smoothly? We're looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Crane & Industrial Door Maintenance Technicians! This role is crucial for keeping our operations safe and efficient. If you're hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to learn, this could be your next big step.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Visual Inspections: You'll be the eyes on the ground, checking crane runways, bridge girders, end trucks, and industrial door tracks for any signs of wear, damage, or misalignment. Think of it as a health check for big equipment! 👀
  • Safety Checks: Ensuring all safety devices are working perfectly is paramount. This includes testing limit switches, emergency stop buttons, anti-collision sensors, and auto-reverse features on doors. Safety first, always! ✅
  • Load-Bearing Component Checks: You'll examine critical parts like wire ropes, hooks, sheaves, chains, and hoist drums for any signs of wear or damage. Keeping these in top shape is vital for safe lifting operations. 💪
  • Documentation: Keeping meticulous records of all your findings is essential for compliance with health and safety regulations (like LOLER/PUWER). Accuracy here is key! 📝
  • Lubrication: Keeping machinery running smoothly involves applying the right grease and lubricants to crane gears, bearings, wire ropes, door hinges, rollers, and chains. Smooth moves only! 🧈
  • Mechanical Adjustments: You'll make precise adjustments, like tensioning door springs, fine-tuning brake air gaps on hoists, and ensuring tracks are perfectly aligned. Precision is the name of the game. 🔧
  • Fluid & Filter Management: Monitoring and checking hydraulic fluid levels on automated doors and gear oil levels in crane hoists and travel gearboxes. Keeping the fluids flowing correctly! 💧
  • Fastener Torquing: Inspecting and tightening critical structural bolts, rail clips, and mounting brackets that might loosen over time due to operational vibrations. Tightening things up! 🔩
  • Electrical Fault Finding: Using tools like multimeters to trace and identify electrical faults in VFDs, pendant controls, radio remotes, and door automation panels. Getting to the root of the problem. ⚡
  • Component Replacement: Swapping out worn-out or damaged parts, such as brake pads, contactors, cables, door slats, and limit switches. Giving equipment a new lease on life. 🆕
  • Drive System Overhauls: Repairing or replacing electric motors, gearboxes, and hydraulic door operators that aren't performing as they should. Bringing systems back to peak performance. ⚙️
  • Post-Repair Testing: After any repairs, you'll conduct thorough unloaded and rated load tests to confirm that the equipment is safe and ready to be put back into service. The final seal of approval! 👍
