As a Groundworks Apprentice, you'll be getting hands-on with a variety of essential tasks:

  • Keeping our construction sites looking sharp and organized. 🧹
  • Digging trenches, the foundations of future projects. πŸ› οΈ
  • Setting up sites with essential barriers, safety signs, and shelters. 🚧
  • Providing support for site evacuations – safety first! 🚨
  • Understanding and working from drawings and specifications. πŸ“
  • Laying pavements, kerbs, and driveways – shaping the landscape. πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ
  • Working with drainage and pipework systems. πŸ’§
  • Operating essential plant machinery like excavators and dumper trucks. 🚜
  • Preparing the ground and foundations for construction to begin. 🌱
  • Diverting waterways and connecting pipes to existing systems. πŸ”—

This isn't just a job; it's a full-on training experience! You'll be enrolled in an 8-week pre-apprenticeship program at CETC:

  • Weeks 1-4: Head to the training centre to earn your CSCS card, a Brickwork Level 1 Certificate, and get fully trained in Health & Safety to be site-ready. βœ…
  • Weeks 5-8: Transition to paid on-site work under sponsorship. This is your chance to prove yourself and prepare for the main event! πŸ’ͺ

Successful completion of the pre-apprenticeship means you'll progress onto a full 18-month apprenticeship programme at CETC, complete with a contract of employment and the opportunity to earn your Groundworks Level 2 qualification. πŸ†

Key responsibilities

  • Clear and tidy the construction site

  • Preparing the ground/foundations to allow construction to begin
