Open Spaces Apprentice 🌳

Ready to make a real impact on your town? As an Open Spaces Apprentice, you'll be on the front lines of keeping our parks, gardens, sports fields, and community spots looking amazing! 🤩

What you'll be doing:

  • Getting hands-on with grounds maintenance: Think planting flowers 🌸, some light landscaping 🌱, tackling weeds, collecting leaves 🍂, watering, and keeping things tidy by picking up litter and managing waste. 🚮
  • Helping to shine up our spaces: You'll assist in maintaining allotments, parks, sports pitches, and other Town Council properties, ensuring they're always inviting, safe, and looking top-notch. ✨
  • Bringing fresh ideas: Spot opportunities to make our open spaces even better and share your thoughts on how to boost their look and eco-friendliness. 💡
  • Staying safe and smart: Always follow risk assessments, health and safety rules, and best practices. Safety first! ✅
  • Being a problem-solver: Take initiative to deal with issues like graffiti, vandalism, fly-posting, damage, and general untidiness. You'll be part of the clean-up and improvement crew! 💪
  • Keeping pathways clear: Help cut back brambles, shrubs, and overgrown plants to make sure paths are accessible and public areas look their best. 🌿
  • Making minor improvements: Carry out small repairs and landscaping to enhance the look and usefulness of our outdoor areas. 🛠️
  • Mastering tools and equipment: Learn to use various tools, equipment, and machinery safely and effectively under supervision. 🔧
  • Supporting community vibes: Get involved with community events and environmental projects happening around town. 🎉
  • Flexing your skills: Assist Open Spaces Assistants and take on other tasks as needed by the Open Spaces Supervisor.

This is a super hands-on role where you'll be working outdoors in different spots, helping to create and maintain beautiful public spaces for everyone to enjoy year-round! ☀️⚽️🏞️
