Job Title: Highway Maintenance Operative 🛣️
Are you ready to get your hands dirty and play a crucial role in keeping our roads safe and accessible? We're looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Highway Maintenance Operatives. This is a hands-on role where you'll be essential in keeping our communities moving! 🚀
What you'll be doing:
- Performing regular and scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure our highways are in top condition. 🛠️
- Tackling minor civil engineering projects, drainage upkeep, and patching up our roads. 👷♀️
- Maintaining excellent technical standards and participating in project and work briefings. 🗣️
- Driving and operating a range of vehicles and plant, using both general and specialized skills. 🚚🚜
- Conducting pre-shift vehicle checks, including essential fluid levels, cleaning, and accurately reporting any defects. 💧
- Carrying out a variety of other highway maintenance duties such as litter picking, winter gritting, and responding to emergency call-outs. ❄️
- Prioritizing your own safety and the safety of your colleagues, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations and safe working practices to protect the public. 🙏
- Accurately logging drivers' hours, time, and resource use according to our allocation system. ⏰
- Keeping detailed records, completing all required paperwork, and communicating effectively with Amey colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, the police, and the public. 🤝

Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine and cyclic maintenance activities.
- Undertake minor civil works, drainage works and carriageway patching.
- Carry out vehicle checks and routine maintenance.
- Carry out highway maintenance activities including litter picking and winter maintenance.
- Keep accurate records, complete necessary paperwork, and communicate with stakeholders.
