What you'll be doing:
- Providing top-notch personal care: assisting with washing, dressing, hygiene, and meals β always with dignity and respect. π§Ό
- Supporting individuals to enjoy life to the fullest: this means helping them pursue their hobbies, socialise, and be as independent as possible. π₯³
- Assisting with daily living: including household chores like cleaning and laundry, and helping with shopping. π‘
- Administering medication safely and effectively, following personalised care plans. π
- Being a friendly face and providing companionship, reducing feelings of isolation. π€
- Working collaboratively with our Support Officers to plan and review care, ensuring individual needs and aspirations are met. π€
- Accurately recording care provided and any feedback, so we can all deliver excellent support. π
- Raising any concerns about well-being promptly. π¨
- Embracing a wide range of activities, even those outside your usual comfort zone, to ensure person-centred support. π€ΈββοΈ
What we're looking for:
- Reliability: Showing up on time, every time, is crucial. Punctuality matters! β°
- Resilience & Patience: Some days will be challenging, and clear, calm communication is key, especially when working with individuals who may express themselves differently. π§ββοΈ
- Flexibility: Care doesn't stick to a 9-to-5. You'll need to be adaptable to shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights. π
- A Genuine Desire to Help: This role demands dedication and a commitment to putting others first. β€οΈ
Your Apprenticeship Journey with PossAbilities:
- Health and Social Care Foundation Apprenticeship Level 2: Gain a recognised qualification over 8 months. π
- Work-Based Training: No college required! Your training is delivered through hands-on experience.
- Dedicated Support: You'll have regular check-ins with a Lifetime Learner Coach (face-to-face and remote calls every 6 weeks) and a workplace mentor. π§βπ«
- Functional Skills: Develop essential English and Maths skills (if you don't already have them). π
- Regular Reviews: 12-weekly reviews with you, your Line Manager, and your Learner Coach to track your progress and celebrate achievements. π
