The Role:
Our IT systems are super important for everything we do, and you'll be a key player in keeping them running smoothly. As an IT Support Technician Apprentice, you'll be the go-to person for tech support across the school. Think workstations, laptops, printers, AV gear, phones – you name it! You'll also team up with teachers to prep IT resources and help out in the IT suites, getting involved with lessons and activities. 💻🎧🗣️
What You'll Be Doing:
- Be the first point of contact for IT queries via email, our helpdesk, and phone. 📞📧
- Keep users in the loop and update our ticketing system.
- Set up and maintain computer hardware, laptops, AV equipment, and accessories.
- Keep track of all our IT gear. 📦
- Help expand our school network, including switches, cabling, and Wi-Fi. 📶
- Handle routine admin tasks like iPad management, backups, health checks, and antivirus.
- Install, maintain, and upgrade software. ⬆️
- Support staff and students with IT equipment setup and prep.
- Provide awesome, customer-focused tech support and training to everyone at the school.
- Help set up AV equipment for lectures and presentations. 🎤
What You'll Need:
- Solid IT skills, with a good understanding of hardware.
- Familiarity with Microsoft products (including Office 365), Google Workspace, and operating systems.
- Awareness of cybersecurity. 🔒
- Understanding of health and safety.
- Ability to work solo or as part of a team.
- Be proactive and take initiative. 💪
- Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle tasks under pressure.
- A genuine desire to contribute to the school community. 🤗
- Be reliable and motivated. ⭐
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience in a school environment. 🏫
- Knowledge of iSAMS.
- Experience with Apple or Linux systems.
- Familiarity with learning platforms.
- Experience managing social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.). 📱
- Internet and email management skills.
- Experience with AV equipment.
- Experience setting up and fixing PCs.
- Experience supporting users and troubleshooting network issues.
Entry Requirements:
- 3 GCSEs at grade 4+ (A-C) in any subject.
- GCSE Maths and English at grade 3+ (D or above).
- You must not already have a qualification at the same or a higher level in a similar subject.
- We might consider a mix of qualifications and experience.
- If you have international qualifications, you'll need an official document comparing them to UK standards.
Hours: 40 hours per week.

Key responsibilities
- Handle frontline queries from various sources including email, helpdesk and telephone
- Install and maintain computer hardware, workstations, laptops, audio/visual equipment and peripherals
- Routine administration including iPad maintenance, data backups, workstation health checks, anti-virus scans
- Software installation, maintenance and upgrading
- Provide high quality customer focused technical support and training to non-teaching and teaching staff and to pupils
