As an Optical Apprentice, you'll be a pro at:
- Greeting customers with a smile! π
- Understanding prescriptions and how they help people see clearly. ποΈ
- Helping customers find frames that are comfy, stylish, and fit their vibe. π―
- Explaining frame features and benefits in a way everyone gets. π£οΈ
- Measuring frames for the perfect fit. π
- Making minor frame adjustments and repairs. π§
- Knowing your stuff about lenses, tints, and coatings. π
- Ordering glasses and contact lenses. π¦
- Handling paperwork like a champ. π
- Booking follow-up appointments. π
- Using tools like a focimeter to check prescriptions. π
- Chatting about contact lens options. π§
- Performing pre-screening eye tests (think retinal imaging!). πΈ
- Explaining our awesome offers and products. π
- Taking payments. π³
- Solving basic optical puzzles. π€
- Understanding how your work impacts the business's success. π

To snag this gig, you'll need to:
- Be 16+ years old. π
- Not currently in full-time education. πβ
- Have GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above. π
- Bring confidence, passion, and heaps of enthusiasm! π₯
- Be a natural team player with top-notch customer service skills. π€
- Be ready to work between 35 and 38.75 hours per week. β°
Key responsibilities
- Assist customers with eyewear selection, product information, and payment processing.
- Handle frame adjustments, repairs, and fittings.
- Perform pre-screening eye examinations and tests.
- Manage administrative tasks, including ordering and record-keeping.
- Interpret clinically issued prescriptions and verify spectacle prescriptions.
