What youβll be doing
As a Cyber Threat Detection & Response Apprentice at SNO, you'll team up with experienced pros to level up our cyber defence. Your mission will include:
- Keeping an eye on network traffic and security alerts for potential threats. π¨
- Backing up investigations into security incidents, gathering intel, and documenting findings. π
- Using SIEM tools to spot and analyse suspicious activity. π΅οΈββοΈ
- Teaming up with the cyber security squad to tackle incidents and roll out defence strategies. π€
- Helping update incident response guides and procedures. π
- Contributing to threat intel reviews and sharing insights with the team. π§
- Whipping up reports and presentations on security incidents and trends. π
- Staying in the loop with the latest cyber threats and tech. π
What weβre looking for

- Ability to crush it solo and as part of a team. πͺ
- You can totally own your workload and manage your time like a boss. β°
- Full, clean driverβs license and access to a vehicle (nice to have, not a dealbreaker!). π
- Must be based in or able to travel consistently to Oswestry, Shropshire. π
- A basic grasp of networking, operating systems, or cyber security concepts would be cool, but we'll help you build these skills! π
Entry requirements
- An A-Level in ICT
- OR an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 ICT
- OR an A-Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject
- OR a BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
Got a mix of qualifications and experience that show you've got the foundation? You could still be considered! If your qualifications are international, you'll need official proof of how they compare to UK standards. π
Working hours
37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm with a 30-minute lunch break) π

Key responsibilities
- Assisting in monitoring network traffic and security alerts to identify potential threats
- Supporting investigations into security incidents, gathering evidence and documenting findings
- Using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools to detect and analyse suspicious activities
- Collaborating with the cyber security team to respond to incidents and implement mitigation strategies
- Helping maintain and update incident response documentation and procedures
