About the Role:
This isn't your average gig – it's a legit engineering role with a killer qualification! 🎓 Join Cloudscaler as an AI Engineer Apprentice and embark on a fully funded Level 6 apprenticeship with our awesome partner, QA. You'll be building, deploying, and running AI and cloud solutions on real projects, learning from the best in the biz. No prior cloud or AI experience? No sweat! We're looking for passion, smarts, curiosity, and that drive to become a top-tier engineer. We'll handle the rest. 😉
Over ~23 months, you'll bag a degree-equivalent qualification, a ton of industry certs, and the consulting skills that make you stand out. You'll finish ready to tackle client challenges, fully immersed in the Cloudscaler way.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Building (with guidance): Spin up and manage AWS resources using Terraform and infrastructure as code, following clear specs. 🏗️
- Supporting Live Ops: Jump into incident resolution in the Engine Room, follow ITIL processes, and help build our knowledge base. 💡
- Working with AI: Prototype and test AI/ML solutions, then help get them production-ready. 🧠
- Writing like a Pro: Craft architecture decision records (ADRs), post-incident reviews (PIRs), runbooks, and super clear status updates. ✍️
- Thinking Commercially: Track your time accurately, work in Agile/Kanban, and rock stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. ⏰
- Using Our Tools: Leverage Claude for drafting, code reviews, and docs, learning when to trust AI and when to double-check. 🤖
Who We're Hunting For:
- Aptitude: A STEM background or solid numeracy and problem-solving skills. Any subject welcome! 🤓
- Motivation: A burning desire to build a career in cloud and AI engineering, with the discipline to study while you work. 🔥
- Behaviours: Communicate clearly and honestly, be a team player, and aren't afraid to ask for help or take on feedback. 🤝
- Security Clearance: You must be eligible for SC clearance.
Nice-to-Haves (but not deal-breakers!):
- Any dabbling in Python, scripting, Terraform, Docker, or Linux (even from study or personal projects). 🐍
- A basic grasp of what cloud computing is and why businesses love it. ☁️
- Proof you finish what you start – a completed project, qualification, or a hobby pursued to a high standard. 🏆
- An interest in how AI is used responsibly in regulated spaces where outputs need careful scrutiny. 🤔
- Your passion for learning and quest for knowledge shines through in your daily life and how you pick up new skills and hobbies. ✨
Entry Requirements:
We're looking for one of the following:
- Two A-levels (similar subjects) + a B in A-Level Maths.
- Two A-levels (similar subjects) + 2 years of tech work experience.
- A Level 4 or 5 apprenticeship in a similar technical field.
- International Baccalaureate at Level 3 (similar subject).
- 3+ years in a similar subject-related role.
- A first degree in a numerate discipline (Computer Science excluded for funding).
Don't meet these exactly? A mix of qualifications and experience proving your foundation is solid? You could still be a great fit! We'll consider international equivalents too, just provide official comparison docs.
Working Hours:
40 hours/week. Hybrid working from our London base, with regular office time for collaboration, mentoring, and cohort sessions. 🏙️
