🔥 NEW & EXCITING ROLE! 🔥 We're on the hunt for a motivated Apprentice Mechanical Technician to join our crew at the OFD in Loch Ewe. This is your chance to kickstart a solid career in mechanical engineering with hands-on training and a recognised qualification.

The Programme:

Get ready for a 3–4-year Mechanical Technician apprenticeship programme that will dive deep into the operational and technical heart of our business. You'll be working towards:

  • Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 in Engineering
  • National Certificate & SVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance

We'll equip you with all the necessary technical certificates to become a master of mechanical engineering. Plus, you’ll gain invaluable knowledge of working on a COMAH Bulk Liquid Operations Site, covering crucial areas like Process Safety study techniques, COMAH regulations, Human Factors, and Functional Safety. 🧠 We deliver this amazing programme in partnership with West College Scotland in Glasgow.

Your Journey:

  • Year 1 (30 weeks): Immerse yourself in learning at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Inverness. Expect structured terms and living on campus. 📚
  • Years 2 & 3: Transition to the OFD Loch Ewe for hands-on experience under a dedicated mentorship programme. Get ready to learn from the best! 🤝

What You'll Be Doing:

You’ll be hands-on with:

  • Keeping fuel storage equipment in tip-top shape through routine maintenance. 🔧
  • Diagnosing and fixing issues with plant and equipment at OFD Loch Ewe. 💡
  • Repairing or coordinating replacements for faulty parts. 🔩
  • Carrying out overhauls and replacements as scheduled. 🗓️
  • Fitting and assembling mechanical components using the right tools. 🛠️
  • Accurately documenting your work on job sheets and planned maintenance cards. ✍️
  • Completing planned maintenance and additional tasks to high engineering standards, ensuring safety is always priority! ✅

Essential Qualifications:

You'll need a minimum of National 5/Intermediate 1/Credit Standard Grade in Maths, English, and a Science subject. 📈

What You'll Earn:

  • Starting Salary: £13,445 per year (dependent on age)
  • Final Year Salary: Rises to £20,625! 💰
  • Hours: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (Mon-Thurs), 7:30 am – 12:30 pm (Fri) (37 hours per week)

As you qualify and gain experience, your salary will increase through our structured pay grades. 🚀
