Are you ready to kickstart your career in a vital industry? The Oil and Pipelines Agency (OPA) is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Apprentice Depot Operators. We manage and maintain critical oil and petroleum storage facilities, playing a key role in the nation's infrastructure. With sites across the UK and overseas, we're a significant operation with around 200 dedicated employees.
The Opportunity: This is a brand new, exciting 30-month journey on our Bulk Storage Terminal Technician (BSTT) Apprenticeship programme! ๐ You'll become an expert in all things operational and technical within our business. Your hands-on training will be supported by a nationally recognised apprenticeship standard, complete with all the technical certificates you need to shine. You won't just learn about terminal operations; you'll dive deep into working on a COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) bulk liquid operational site. ๐งช Expect to gain incredible insights into Process Safety, COMAH requirements, Human Factors, and Functional Safety. We foster a positive environment with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. You'll be learning from the best, with delivery by industry experts and Reynolds Training Services.
Your Training Journey:
- Year 1: You'll be based at the Depot and the HCF Catch Training Facility in Immingham, with block weeks of training. โ๏ธ
- Year 2: Primarily at our OFD Garelochhead site under a mentorship programme, with allocated weeks back at Catch Training Facility. ๐ค
This apprenticeship is designed for a well-rounded exposure to all areas of depot operations, giving you the chance to make a real impact with a company that's all about pioneering spirit. โจ
What You'll Be Doing:
- Operating and maintaining fuel storage plant and equipment (think cleaning, painting, lubricating!). ๐ ๏ธ
- Managing pumping systems. ๐ง
- Configuring systems. ๐ป
- Operating Oil Water separators. ๐
- Working as part of a team to receive and issue petroleum products to authorised customers. ๐ฆ
- Rigging and assisting with fuelling hose testing. ๐งฐ
- Slinging operations. ๐๏ธ
- Manual tank dipping. ๐
- Product sampling. ๐ฌ
- Measuring fuel before, during, and after transactions. โฝ
- Operating a range of machinery and pumps essential for storage and fuelling. โ๏ธ
Who We're Looking For:
We need individuals who are hardworking, reliable, trustworthy, and have a serious hunger to learn and grow within the Bulk Liquid Storage industry. ๐ก You should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to be a true team player.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum Grade C/National 5 in Maths, English, and a Science subject. ๐
What's In It For You:
- Starting Salary: ยฃ13,445 per year (this increases based on age, rising to ยฃ20,625 in your final year). ๐ฐ
- Hours: Monday to Thursday: 7:25 am - 4:05 pm. Friday: 7:25 am - 12:30 pm (37 hours per week). โฐ
