About the role

Vehicle Technician Apprentice 🔧

Join Culina Group, a £2.2 billion+ logistics powerhouse, as an Apprentice Vehicle Technician! We're a massive operation with over 22,000 employees, a fleet of 5,000+ vehicles, and 100+ depots across the UK and Ireland, serving over 1,000 clients. We're all about chilled, ambient, contract packaging, and fresh/baked goods. 🚀

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:

As our next Vehicle Technician Apprentice, you'll be key in getting our commercial vehicles, trailers, and other vehicles ready for their MOTs. You'll also dive into daily and routine maintenance and repairs on all kinds of HGV trucks and trailers in the Culina Group fleet. You’ll be supporting our experienced Technicians with servicing, inspecting, and repairing.

The Deets:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. 🗓️
  • Pay: £11.44 per hour. 💰

What You'll Be Doing (Key Duties):

  • Keep our workshop a safe and super tidy place, with all equipment in top-notch condition. ✅
  • Handle commercial vehicle maintenance for company vehicles, trailers, and even external customer vehicles (with guidance, of course!).
  • Back up our Technicians with servicing, inspecting, and fixing a variety of issues.
  • Work towards performing vehicle services and inspections independently, in line with DVSA regulations, once you've got the training and sign-off. 💯
  • Prep commercial vehicles, trailers, and other vehicles for their MOTs.
  • Perform daily and routine maintenance and repairs on all makes and models of HGV trucks and trailers belonging to Culina Group.
  • Always prioritize safety in the workshop – be proactive about keeping everyone safe! ⛑️
  • Complete tasks as directed, either in the workshop or yard, once you've had the right training and it's safe to do so.
  • Take on extra tasks when asked by your Workshop Supervisor/Chargehand.
  • Crucially: Never attempt a task you haven't been trained for or aren't being supervised on. Safety first, always! 🚦
  • Aim to complete work within the set standard times. ⏱️
  • Embrace a "clean as you go" attitude and stick to the 7S system.
  • Accurately record labour time and parts used on the relevant workshop systems.
  • Remember, signing off documents is a legal requirement – make sure everything is accurate and truthful. ✍️

What You'll Need:

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above. 📚
  • You'll complete a qualification as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Be able to communicate clearly with your team and key stakeholders. 🗣️
  • Good IT skills, comfortable with MS packages. 💻
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, positive, and focused on hitting deadlines. 💪
